ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the ear, nose, and throat exam of some freshmen in the military college entrance examination in Shandong Province in 2020 and to facilitate adolescent targeted health promotion.@*Methods@#The 1 411 freshmen participating in the military college entrance examination in Jinan, Zibo and Weifang of Shandong Province were included. The ear, nose, and throat exam were performed by professionals using electric otoscope, 5 meter whispering test, and front rhinoscope.@*Results@#Nasal septal deviation and hypertrophy of inferior turbinate accounted for the highest proportion. Among 489 cases of nasal septum deviation, the detection rate of Jinan (15.97%) was significantly lower than that of Weifang (43.60%) and Zibo (46.53%) ( χ 2=63.32, P <0.05). For deviation of nasal septum, the detection rate in students with urban residence (31.53%) was significantly lower than that of rural students (39.03%) ( χ 2=4.11, P <0.05). Seventy two cases of inferior turbinate hyperplasia were detected, and the detection rate in Jinan (2.99%) was significantly lower than that in Weifang (6.51%) and Zibo (6.04%) ( χ 2=6.63, P <0.05). The detection rate of tonsil hypertrophy was significantly lower in boys (4.63%), students from urban area (3.94%), compared with that of girls(9.56%) and rural students (6.70%) ( χ 2=5.35,4.86, P <0.05). In pharyngeal examination, tonsil hyperplasia was the most common condition of enlarged tonsils ( n =214), which was significantly higher in Jinan(22.36%) than that of Weifang (11.71 %) and Zibo (10.74%) ( χ 2=22.39, P <0.05), and was significantly lower in boys (14.38%) and rural students (12.40%) than that in girls (22.79%) and urban students (17.24%) ( χ 2=4.70,4.65, P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#Nasal septum deviation and tonsil hypertrophy are the most prevalent upper airway diseases among freshmen participating in the military college entrance examination. Prevention and treatment of nasopharynx diseases should be emphasized.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the resistance mechanisms of tigecycline-non-susceptible Acinetobacter baumannii and for providing the evidence of the control of nosocomial infection and rational use of antibiotics. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 94 non repetitive tigecycline-non-susceptible A. baumannii from 20 hospitals in 12 cities of China were determined by agar dilution method and broth microdilution method. The molecular epidemiology was studied by Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) and eBURST software. PCR and sequencing techniques were used to analyze the resistance genes (blaOXA-40-like, blaOXA-58-like, blaOXA-23-like, blaOXA-51-like, blaNDM-1), ISAba1, and the mutation sites of adeR, adeS, and trm. The activity of polymyxin B and minocyclinem against tigecycline-non-susceptible A. baumannii were 100% and 25.5%, respectively. The sensitivities of other antibiotics were less than 3.5%, and the sensitivities of imipenem and meropenem totigecycline-nonsusceptible A. baumannii were only 1.1%. A total of 12 ST types were identified, including ST195 (45, 47.9%), ST208 (19, 20.2%) and ST457 (10, 10.6%). EBURST analysis found that 8 of the ST types belonged to the clone complex 92 (Clonal Complex 92, CC92). The blaOXA-23-like type carbapenem gene was identiefied in 93 strains (99% positive); and none of the strains contained the blaNDM-1 gene. The detection rates of adeR and adeS were 73.4% and 91.5% respectively and high frequency mutation sites were located in adeR (Asp26Asn) and adeS (Ala97Glu); The ISAba1 located upstream of the adeS gene was detected in 12 strains of A. baumannii, mainly from the northern region of China. The 240 nucleotide deletion of the trm gene caused a frameshift leading to a premature stop. So the tigecycline-non-susceptible A. baumannii showed high resistance against most antibiotics except polymyxin B. The deletion and mutation of adeR, adeS and trm were the main resistant mechanisms in tigecycline-non-susceptible A. baumannii in China.

ABSTRACT

Objective T To investigate the effect of sirolimus (SRL) on the differentiation, development, and maturation of mice bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DC),and the synergic effects of them in prolonging survival time of skin allograft. Methods (1) DC of C57BL/6 mice were derived from bone marrow cells upon culture with SRL. The expression of CD11c,CD86 and major histocompatibility complex (MHCⅡ) molecules was assessed with or without lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation by flow cytometry; (2) The capacity of DC administrated by SRL to stimulate allogeneic T lymphocyte proliferation was examined by mixed lymphocyte culture (MLR); (3) A skin transplantation model was established with the recipients BALB/c mice and the donor C57BL/6 mice. Recipients were divided into control group (there was no administration before skin transplantation),immature DC group (injection of donor C57BL/6 mice immature dendritic cells 2?10 6 via tail vein before skin transplantation),SRL group (receiving oral SRL 3 mg/kg every day for 7 days before skin transplantation),combined group (receiving an injection of donor C57BL/6 mice immature DC via tail vein and of oral SRL before skin transplantation),and isogeneic group (in which the donors and recipients were both BALB/c mice and there was no administration before skin transplantation). Survival time and histological changes of skin allograft were observed in different groups. Results (1) CD11c expression on the DC in the presence of SRL was slightly decreased, but CD86 and MHCⅡ molecules significantly decreased, and SRL treatment could resist the stimulation of LPS; (2) MLR revealed that DC administrated by SRL could inhibit allogeneic T lymphocyte proliferation; (3) SRL treatment in combination with donor immature DC before transplantation could alleviate inflammation and prolong survival time of skin allograft in mice. Conclusions SRL does not alter differentiation but inhibit the maturation of DC. Sirolimus can cooperate with immature DC to prolong survival time of skin allograft in mice.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the effects of Astragalus polysacharin(APS) on human fibroblast and human umbilical vein endothelia cell (HUVEC) proliferation, as well as its acts on adhesion between white cells and HUVECs. METHODS: Human fibroblasts from distal and proximal skin away the ulcer were cultured as normal fibroblasts(NF) and wounded fibroblasts(WF). MTT assay was used for detecting cell proliferation, Rose Bengal staining and fluorescence immunohistology assay were used for examining the adhesion of human polymorpho-nuclear cell(PMN) and TPH-1 to HUVECs. RESULTS: 2 44-156 mg/L APS promoted WF proliferation, and 2 44-39 mg/L APS also promoted NF proliferation, but it did not show any proliferating effect on HUVECs. APS inhibited the adhesion of PMN or TPH-1 to HUVECs induced by tumor necrosis factor(TNF). At 25-100 mg/L, it also inhibited both VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 expression in HUVECs induced by TNF. Treatment with APS for 12 h also inhibited CD44 expression in HUVECs. CONCLUSION: APS shows mitogenic activity on both human normal and wounded fibroblasts. It also exerts anti-inflammation effects by inhibiting adhesion molecule expression and adhesion of white cells to HUVECs. [
